Student Bible Study Groups
A Bible Study Group is not just a Sunday morning experience but a place where students grow together in relationships with each other.
Student Ministries
VG|Students exist to see students (6th – 12th grade) become growing followers of Jesus who GATHER as God’s family, GROW in love for Jesus and GO share the Gospel and love of Jesus with those around them.
Gather: We believe that God did not create us to live alone and that He saves us and then places us in His family. Our goal is to be a place where ANYONE can feel loved and be part of the family.
Grow: As students find a place to belong, we partner with parents to train and encourage each student’s spiritual development.
Go: The love of Jesus and the Good News that He brought is too good to keep to ourselves. We desire for students to have a desire to reach those who are not following Jesus by going to make disciples.
There are so many ways and reasons we seek to find a good life, but often we settle for less than what God has for us. We believe that students were made for more than anything this world can offer and want to help them find real life by following Jesus.
WE DO THIS IN THREE WAYS:
Midweek Worship
Bible Study Groups
Faith at Home
You Were Made for More…
The kingdom of heaven is like treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his joy, he goes and sells everything he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls. When he found one priceless pearl, he went and sold everything he had and bought it. Matthew 13:44-46
The Gospel
We love good news!
We know that we live in a world filled with bad news. If we are not careful, we start to believe that this world is hopeless. This is where we are wrong.
What we love about the Bible is that it allows us to make sense of the mess because it tells us that our world is broken by sin, but it was not intended to be this way. God made a beautiful world that was to be enjoyed as a gift. In our sin, we live for the gift instead of the Giver. Jesus came to make a way for us to enjoy life as a good gift from God as we were designed.
We want all people to come to know Jesus as their Savior. If you would like to speak with someone about having a relationship with Jesus, please contact us at 865-577-6620.

God has made students do great things and we want to help you become all God created you to be!
Home Groups
We challenge our students to gather together, in community, to study the Bible and challenge each other in their faith. Student Discipleship is designed to teach and lead students to gather, grow and go live out their faith in Jesus Christ. All students are invited to jump in and learn with us!
Currently, students meet in homes around the Seymour/South Knoxville area to gather as God’s family, grow in love for God through bible study and learn how to go share the love of Jesus. These groups are a safe place where students can relax and discuss what it looks like to live for Jesus every day.
For more information about being part of a Home Group, please contact the student ministry office or a Bible Study Group Leader.
Faith at Home is the BIGGEST FACTOR
We have two major convictions at VG|Students:
- God has given the primary responsibility for spiritual growth to parents.
- God created the home to be the place where a child’s spiritual growth is nurtured and developed.
These convictions are the reason that we see one of our main jobs as equipping parents, grandparents and guardians to live out faith at home. Take a look at Deuteronomy 6:4-7, also known as the Shema:
Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Deuteronomy 6:4-7
While Moses proclaims to the nation that the Lord is the one, true God, he also focuses his words on families, challenging parents to be disciple-makers in their homes. Many parents know instinctively they are called to be the primary disciple-makers of the home, but they tremble at the thought of playing the role of spiritual leader. The demands of parenting are too stressful, too tiresome and often thankless. Nevertheless, there is hope!
Moses doesn’t merely instruct moms and dads to disciple their children, he also tells them how. According to the latter portion of Deuteronomy 6:7, a seamless way for busy parents to lead change in the home is through the natural flow of everyday life.
It is our hope to provide YOU with resources, encouragement and be your partner to see your student become the person God created them to be! Our weekly services follow an “open door” policy. We want everyone to feel welcome and confident about what is going on in the student ministry. If you ever want to stop in, be our guest!
