What We Believe

At Valley Grove Church, we believe that following Jesus is the most exciting journey anyone can take. We want to make sure everyone in Seymour, South Knoxville, and across the whole world knows about God’s love.

Below is a simple look at what we believe. These truths guide everything we do, from our Sunday services to how we help our neighbors.

The Bible: Our Guidebook
We believe the Bible is God’s Word. It was written by people who were led by God’s Spirit. Because of that, it is perfect and true. You can think of the Bible like a map for life. It tells us who God is, how much He loves us, and the best way to live. We trust what it says because God doesn’t make mistakes.

God: The Creator
There is only one true God. He is the Creator of everything—the stars, the mountains, and you! He is all-powerful and all-knowing. Even though there is only one God, He shows Himself in three ways: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. This can be hard to wrap our heads around, but it shows how big and amazing He is.

Jesus: Our Savior
Jesus is God’s Son. He came to earth as a person, lived a perfect life, and never did anything wrong. He died on a cross to take the punishment for the bad things people do (which the Bible calls sin). But the story didn’t end there! Three days later, He came back to life. Because He is alive, He offers us a way to be friends with God forever.

The Holy Spirit: Our Helper
The Holy Spirit lives inside everyone who decides to follow Jesus. He is like a quiet voice that helps us make good choices, comforts us when we are sad, and gives us the strength to do what is right. He helps us understand the Bible and shows us how to love others.

People: Why We Matter
God created people in His own image. That means every person is special and valuable to Him. It doesn’t matter where you come from or what you have done; God loves you. Because of sin, we were separated from God, but He wants us to come back to Him.

Salvation: A Free Gift
Salvation is a big word that just means being “saved” or “set free.” We can’t earn our way into heaven by being “good enough.” It is a free gift from God. All we have to do is trust in Jesus, ask Him to forgive us, and follow Him. When we do that, we become part of God’s family forever.

The Church: Our Family
The church isn’t just a building with a steeple; it’s a family of people. We gather together to learn, to sing, and to take care of each other. We also work together to help our community. Our “Mission Statement” comes from the Great Commission. That is a special instruction Jesus gave us to go out and tell everyone the Good News.

Our Mission
We start right here in Seymour and South Knoxville. We want our neighbors to feel the hope that Jesus gives. But we don’t stop there. We support people all over the world so that every person, in every country, has the chance to hear about God’s love.
