Family Life Center
The philosphy of our Recreation Ministry is that our lives be centered daily in the person of Jesus Christ. Whether it's sports, fellowship, or family activities, Valley Grove has recreation opportunities for you in a Christ-honoring atmosphere housed in our Family Life Center. This modern facility provides recreation for the entire family and Christian fellowship outreach for the South Knoxville and Seymour Communities.
The whole family will enjoy the regulation size gymnasium with a walking track, weight/workout room, aerobics room and two racquetball courts.
Valley Grove has teamed up with Sevier Heights Baptist Church for the past 4 years to offer Upward Basketball and cheerleading for boys and girls in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Middle school and 3 on 3 high school leagues are also offered. The basketball season begins in January and continues through February. The season culminates with an awards night in March. Parents, grandparents and friends are encouraged to attend the Awards Ceremony and and enjoy special entertainment.
Aerobic classes are offered twice a week for a nominal fee and are open to the community. The Family Life Center is also home to VGBC Daycamp. Daycamp is a safe, fun environment during the summer months for children who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade. It offers a wide range of curriculum that is both active and educational. Activities include sports, music, crafts, drama, games, fitness, reading, movies, free time, swimming and weekly field trips. The camp is open to the public but space is limited. Enrollment will begin in late March.
The Family Life Center operating hours are Monday thru Friday from 6 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. It re-opens at 4:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. (times may vary according to season and church activity). Saturday hours are from 8 a.m. – 12 noon.
Various church-wide activities are held in the Family Life Center such as Fall Festival (Halloween alternative), Thanksgiving Dinner, Valentine Banquet, volleyball tournaments, etc.
